Well, last night we took possession of the theatre for the first time.  The set is gorgeous and the actors are amazing.  We watched what is called a stumble through last night.  It’s interesting to watch as the actors learn the set, transpose blocking from the rehearsal room to the actual stage, learn the acoustics of the theatre, and so on.  I find this process the most interesting to watch as an audience member.  Tonight, the actors will have learned some things about the “space” and it will look totally different.  It’s an interesting process to watch as actors, director and crew work out the issues and make adjustments to the set and the theatre space.

For me personally, I’m honored to be able to sit and watch artists evolve and create. I can’t imagine how difficult it is on an actor to stumble through the first night, but it’s certainly a transformative process to be able to view.  I’m looking forward to seeing that “evolution” tonight as more technical things are worked out and as actors get more comfortable with each other on the set.
